Meet Coach Potts:

Coach Potts started coaching lacrosse in Montgomery County in 2012 as Northwood’s JV head coach.  After three short years Potts was promoted to Varsity head Coach at Northwood High School.   Coach Potts led Northwood to its best record in school history and the school’s first ever division title in 2017. Along with Northwood's success Coach Potts earned Montgomery County Boys Lacrosse Coach of the year in 2017.   At the end of the 2017 school year Coach Potts was hired as Blake’s new head boy’s Lacrosse Coach.  In his first season Potts helped turn the boy’s lacrosse program around from going 4-11 in 2017 to setting the school record for wins in a season by going 11-4.  In 2021 Potts led the Blake boy’s lacrosse team to a 10-1 record and the school's first ever region title.  For his efforts in 2021 Coach Potts Earned NFHS Maryland state boys’ lacrosse coach of the year.  Potts has coached many all-division and all county players.  Coach has also mentored dozens of players through the college recruiting process and helped them find a home at the next level.

A Native of Smithtown NY, Potts graduated from Hauppauge High School in 2003 and went on to enjoy a very successful college career.  Coach Potts played two years at Suffolk CC where he was an Academic All-American and a starter as a freshman.  After Suffolk, Potts transferred to SUNY Cortland where he would be part of the 2006 National Championship team that beat Salisbury University, at the time the Gulls were three-time defending National Champs and were 69-0.

Coach Potts has coached children of all ages, his coaching career started in NY while finishing college.  After College, Potts went on to Coach middle school boy’s lacrosse for three years in the William Floyd school district on Long Island NY.   Potts dedicates his life to growing the game of lacrosse and sets high standards for his programs.  Potts instills his knowledge and love of the game to all his players.  He also hopes that all the athletes he coaches will feed off his work ethic, preparation, and commitment.

Coach Potts currently lives ten minutes from Blake HS in Silver Spring with his wife Liz, daughter Stella, his son James, and their dog Cruz. Yes, Cruz as in ex NY Giant Victor Cruz, because Coach Potts is a diehard Giants football fan no matter how bad they are.  Coach Potts and his family established their roots here in the Blake community and look forward to many years ahead.
